Trinity Lutheran Church unveils new artwork (Local News ~ 11/10/17)
Trinity Lutheran Church in Alta unveiled a new work of art at their Reformation 500 service on October 29. The banner which is 12 feet x 4 feet was painted by Beth Winterhof and donated to the church. It was designed to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the beginning of the Reformation, when Martin Luther nailed his 95th one of theses to the church door on October 31, 1517. The banner depicts the work of the triune God, featuring specific acts of God the Creator, God the Redeemer and God the Sustainer in three panels. The first panel features a vision of outer space, depicting the fourth day of creation when God populated the heavens with the celestial bodies. The second panel depicts the morning of the resurrection, with the cross casting a shadow before a beautiful sunset, next to the empty tomb. The third panel shows the work of the Holy Spirit, the presence of God in the waters of baptism and in the fire of Pentecost.
