Assault at Tyson On the afternoon of Friday, April 29, at approximately 2:20 p.m., the Storm Lake Police Department was dispatched to the Tyson Pork Plant on Richland Drive in reference to an assault. Upon arrival of police they met with the victim who alleged that she was assaulted in the locker room by a Marsha Billups, age 53 of Storm Lake. The victim reported the two women were arguing when Billups allegedly poked the victim several times in her face with her fingers...

The Little Sioux River crested far out of its banks at Linn Grove on Sunday. Flood stage is 18 feet and the river was measured at well over 20 feet, causing some damage and swamping the riverfront land. The National Weather Service predicts another peak around 20.2 feet late today or early tomorrow, followed by a slow ebbing. Lake Commission approves new deal with DNR

The Storm Lake LIC approved the new contract between themselves and the Iowa DNR, in which the DNR gives the LIC $850,000 (90% of the cost) for the dredging project through December of 2018 on the condition the LIC matches 10%.
