Today is a special day to reflect and be thankful, a day to pay tribute to our mothers. Mothers have strengths that are amazing...they bear hardships and they carry burdens, but they hold happiness, love and joy. They often smile when they want to scream, and sing when they want to cry. Moms will fight for what they believe in, especially when children and animals are involved. They come in all shapes, sizes, and colors...they are all beautiful...

Harriet Danielson, age 96, of Albert City, died Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Pleasant View Nursing Home in Albert City. Funeral services will be 2 p.m., Friday, May 11, at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Albert City. Burial will be in the Fairfield Township Cemetery in Albert City. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church, with the family present. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements...
Music students are great SL ambassadors (05/14/12)
To the Storm Lake Community: Thank you to everyone who attended the Celebration Concert for the Storm Lake High School Band on April 29th and thank you for supporting the students with your generous donations. The high school band was chosen to perform at the Iowa Bandmasters Association convention in Des Moines on May 11th and the concert helped raise awareness and support for the trip. A freewill donation was collected to help offset the cost of the meals for the music students...
