Byron "Chub" Hotchkiss, age 78, of Storm Lake, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 2010 at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell. A memorial service will be held at a later date. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Merle D. Humphrey, of Goldfield, entered into eternal rest Monday, Jan. 11, 2010 at Wright Medical Center in Clarion. Merle was born Aug. 2, 1928, in Algona, to his parents, Carl and Iva (Howe) Humphrey. He was educated in Algona and enlisted in the U.S. Army thereafter.
