Photo contest seeks NW Iowa's beauty (11/19/09)
The Sanford Museum in Cherokee is lauching "The Beauty of Northwest Iowa Photography Contest." There are no age limits, and both professional and amateur work is welcome. Awards are $100 for first place, $50 for second and $25 for third. Entries are being accepted now. They should be entered by the photographer, 8x10 inch format, unframed. All photos must be taken within northwest Iowa. Label on back with name, address and phone. A person can enter one or two photos...

Harvey Koth, age 91, Alta, passed away on Friday, Nov. 13, 2009 at the Sunset Knoll Nursing and Rehab Center of Aurelia. A funeral service was held on Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the St. John Lutheran Church of Alta with Rev. John H. Schmidt officiating. Burial was at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery of Alta.
