Team Mork comes together for family (09/28/09)
The Alta community is preparing for a new event, known as Team Mork. Friends and family are coming together to fight for team member Tracy Mork. Tracy is a 20-teaching veteran of the Alta Community School system. Currently Tracy is teaching computer instruction for grades K-8. Tracy is a graduate of Storm Lake High School and Buena Vista University and has a masters in Computer Technology from Morningside University...
Bid accepted for new fire station; work to begin this fall (09/28/09)
The new fire station became more of a reality this week. Bids were looked at from eight contractors. The lowest bid, $527,200, turned in by Haselhoff Construction of Cherokee, was accepted. Bids ranged all the way up to $652,000. Alta Fire Chief Gary "Mo" Molgaard was pleased with the number of bidders and was extremely glad the accepted bid was lower than the $605,000 estimated cost for the project...
