New jail plan delayed again (05/16/05)
The ever-elusive jail issue again evaded the grasp of the Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors Tuesday when the Board decided that a May 30 deadline with the Storm Lake Planning and Zoning Commission could not be met. One problem is the county's ability to provide specifications for the proposed jail with a two-week advance notice before Storm Lake Planning and Zoning meets May 30 or a week before the city Board of Adjustment meets June 1, according to Supervisor Bill Lanphere. ...
Will Vilsack go the distance in marathon? (05/16/05)
Governor Tom Vilsack announced this week that he plans to run in the 10th annual Marathon to Marathon June 11, according to Terry Benson, Marathon board member. Benson said Vilsack is still deciding whether he will run the entire 26.2-mile marathon which starts at Storm Lake High School and ends at the Community Building in Marathon. SL Police seek suspect in sexual abuse of 14-year-old girl (05/16/05)
Police are asking for the public's help as they search for a sexual abuse suspect who has apparently left the Storm Lake area following the alleged assault of a 14-year-old girl at a party last October.
