Absentee ballots available for Awaysis vote (01/24/05)
Absentee ballots are now available in the Buena Vista County Auditor's office for the Feb. 8 Storm Lake special election on the bond issue for the aquatic center. Voters may vote in the Auditor's office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Frankly, at first blush, the proposed Iowa Dream Act didn't strike me as a good idea. It proposes that undocumented immigrant youth be allowed to attend the state university's at the same rate as state residents, instead of the current international student rate. It doesn't seem fair to all the Iowa families that strain to educate their kids without expecting any breaks. It seems to encourage illegal immigration...
