The man considered to be the state's oldest veteran has died. Clay Risser, 105, died Saturday at the Jackson County Public Hospital's extended care wing, said manager Beverly Ernzen. Risser served in the U.S. Army for 57 days in 1918 as a 19-year-old freshman at Iowa Wesleyan College, and a member of the now-defunct Students' Army Training Corps.
