Alta students learn bicycle safety
Second and third graders at Alta Elementary learned about bicycle safety with a hands on course. There was a slight chill in the air that morning Friday in early May, but that didn't stop the kids. Students received helmets that were fastened on, and then off they went on the bikes to complete the three courses. Alta Kiwanis President Steven Mohr says, "A local Buena Vista County Sheriff will let them know about bicycle safety cues, hand signals, and what side of the road they should ride on. They teach them how to be safe on the roads." They receive a license to ride their bicycle as well as reflectors.
