Hot enough for ya?Posted Monday, August 16, 2010, at 8:25 AM
Dos and don'ts to survive the heat and humidity.
I have found that there are a few of my somewhat normalites that should not be attempted within the hours where brutal temperatures and high humidity exist, as it has this week. Such as drinking from a bottle of water that has sat in the car for an hour or so with the sun roof open. Not a good thirst quencher when the water is within boiling temperature as it ever so delightfully enters the mouth and heads on down leaving scorch marks in its path.
Speaking of the car...wearing shorts or a skirt while scootching onto leather seats in the middle of a upper 90 degree day when the car has been shut up underneath the hot sun's rays. Ouch, that does kind of sting a bit.
Trying to maintain some what of a nice hairdo just doesn't work either when the humidity reaches the high 80's and 90's. It becomes somewhat of a chore when trying to look somewhat presentable. I see why there are a number of "skinheads" roaming about. How much easier does that get, not to mention pretty darned cool....as in body temperature!
I don't know how the guys in three piece suits do it? Are there little fans built into the inside pockets? If not there's invention waiting to be invented.
Then there are those that continually think that thier physical fitness routine should be continued no matter what the thermometer reads....sorry guys and gals, nothing worse then the stench of a sweaty body drenched in aftershave or perfume, thinking that the smell would decrease while wearing Old Spice or White Diamonds. Doesn't work, trust me!
Fans, and air conditioning are our friends during the Dog Days of Summer. Take advantage of cold water, iced tea, frozen treats and the swimming pools while you can. Its so easy to get cooled off during these days where the heat and humidity seem to torment the body. Remember these days fondly, it wont be long and we will be complaining about the snow and cold. |
