Here's why women's health insurance is higher

Posted Monday, June 7, 2010, at 3:14 PM

Hey Ladies....

While working on trying to update health insurance my husband asked, "Why is it so much more expensive to cover my wife?"

Apparently he forgot how much work we women go through throughout our lives to try to stay healthy, and the fact that we have a few more health issues to contend with than our counterparts...men!

Shall we begin with the ever popular menstrual cycle? Guys, you have no idea what this monthly curse does to us. Well perhaps a small portion of it we are kind enough to share with you...our effortless bad moods and endless tears for no reason, but there's so much more mother nature so graciously gifts us with monthly, we keep to ourselves.

Childbirth is the most miraculous blessing...but the morning sickness, the stretch marks, the voluptuous breasts that leak at every twitch of a muscle, the swelling in our feet that accompanies the final months and let us not leave out the excruciating pain of giving birth. Nothing can compare to the amazing life changing event, but I would love to see a guy go through what we women do during those 9 months!

As we age other changes occur, Men go through largely psychological mid-life crisis... we ladies get physical setbacks. Midsections expand for no reason, moods again are out of control, bladder control sometimes is nil while sneezing or going for a simple jog, we begin to shrink in size and stature and those breasts seem to head south.

I love being a female. I love being responsible for giving life to my wonderful girls, nothing compares to hearing someone call you mom or grandma and those little changes that occur as we age are pretty much tolerable. I am thinking that even though it may cost more to keep us women healthy, just where would the guys be without us, pretty much worth the expense right?

Very useful information. Thanks for sharing this. Your post is really good to the point I have to agree to all of those.
