I can't wait for springPosted Monday, February 22, 2010, at 2:13 PM
I can't wait for spring! The sunshine we've had the last couple of days is promising. A co-worker was just mentioning how she couldn't believe that March was almost here.... I'm glad that we're all that much more closer to spring. I hope we don't see another winter like the one we just saw for a very long time.
What are your plans for the spring/summer? Going on any vacations? I don't have anything set in stone yet and not sure how far I'll get this year since I'm broker than broke - need to fire myself as an account of my finances and my rustmobile is getting ready to celebrate a birthday - it's about 100 miles from the big 200,000 miles and frankly I get a little scared about driving it much further than the County line - especially after my alternator died on the way home from Des Moines last year. I'm hoping to make it Omaha for a reunion with a pal of mine from North Platte. I'd really like to make it to Colorado for a reunion but we'll see. Road tripping to Kansas City to see my bro and his wife is always fun. Anywho I am looking forward to RAGBRAI and really need to start getting myself in shape. I've been told the Sioux City to SL leg is the most strenuous. Yikes. The other day I was trying to remember the hills leading to Sioux City and I can remember one that would be fun to cruise down, not so much going the other way though. Who knows how many miles are on my bike and I'm thankful that even when my car breaks down I still have two wheels to get around on. YAY! I have lined up a couple who will be driving me down to Sioux City the night before and I'm planning to camp with them and they've generously offered to transport my belongings back to Storm Lake in their bus. Now I'm thinking of team name for myself, everyone else has one, - 'Party of one.' How about the 'riding writer' or the 'writing rider?' or "Team PT" PT equals Pilot-Tribune. What do you think? |

I grew up in Northcentral Iowa. I attended Iowa State University where I received a B.A. Degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and had an emphasis on Child and Family Studies. I moved to Storm Lake in 2008 to work for the Pilot-Tribune, after working for a daily paper in Nebraska. When I'm not busy typing like a mad woman, peering from behind a camera lens or interviewing all sorts of new and exciting people, you can probably find me rollerblading/biking the paved paths of Storm Lake, strumming out a few notes on my guitar, walking numerous dogs all at once in Newell. I am also a member of Faith Bible, a member of the Shayla Bee family, the SL Kiwanis and a longtime member of the Twizzlers Annonymous Support group. Wink Wink.
