Two blondes in Nebraska...

Two blondes - a mother and a daughter - were on an adventure in Nebraska.

They stopped to shop - one of their favorite things to do.

When the mother was about to make a purchase, and the cashier was waiting to be paid, the lovely daughter said to her mother, "Mom, do you need more sense?"

Well, that was a loaded question and if the mother's husband and two sons would have been present they would have roared with laughter and quickly said, "yes."

It was true, though, she really did need more sense but she was afraid to take any from her blonde daughter thinking, "could she really afford to give any of her sense away?"

Finally the mother accepted some of her daughter's sense, they laughed and they moved on.

It sounds like a REAL blonde joke, doesn't it? It actually was a conversation between Marissa and I on Saturday except the "sense" was really "cents!"

We have taken so much flack for having blonde hair and lacking intelligence for many years.

In reality, neither of us is a true blonde; Marissa's hair is a light brown, the same as mine USED to be before I became "mature" and my hair began growing in gray.

Both of us, however, like blonde hair and pay to have blonde hair. With that, though, comes the stigma of being dumb.

Why is that? Don't assume that every blonde is about as smart as a cantaloupe; listen to her and take note of the many accomplishments she has made.

I've heard many times when someone is in an unusual situation, performing a silly act because he or she misconstrued the meaning of how an activity is supposed to play out, or has made a comment that serves to highlight his or her supposed lack of intelligence or lack of common sense they say they are having a "blonde moment" because it is assumed that is how a blonde would react.

I like being blonde and when I do something like that I just laugh about it and when I see a brunette doing something or saying something goofy, I laugh about it.

Intelligence has nothing to do with hair color...most people making the blonde jokes are most likely jealous. Many people, mostly the blondes, would like to argue that brunettes are just as dumb as blondes or blondes are just as smart as everyone else.

I do laugh over the blonde jokes just like everyone else.
