How 'regular' are you?Posted Wednesday, November 2, 2011, at 10:05 AM
It is not unusual for me to ask my family members and friends if they are "regular". It's just part of life and makes life more enjoyable if you are; no one likes to be irregular!
So how regular are you? There are many things that we should be regular at. How regular do you go to church? I have been a Sunday School teacher for 11 years and am quite regular throughout the Sunday School season. Unfortunately, things seem to come up in the summers and I become irregular. That doesn't make me feel good but that does not mean that I am an irregular pray-er; that is something that I am very regular at. How regular do you tell your children that you love them? From the time our kids were very young it has been a regular part of our day and night to say, "Bye, love ya, have a good day" when we leave each other in the mornings and "Night, love ya, sleep good" when we turn in at night. It has been more difficult to carry those regular "love yous" out with three of the kids in college. I do talk and/or text them regularly and throw in those "love yous" more than once during the conversations. Lucky for Austin, still at home, he still hears those sentiments twice a day. How regular do you contact your friends? I am more irregular at this than anything else in my life. I wish I was more regular at doing so. Somehow, through my busy life, I seem to take their friendships for granted and know they will always be there for me. That's not right. I wish there was a pill I could take or a drink I could drink (such as Metamucil) to make me more regular in this area. How regular are you at saying thank you? I say thank you a great deal and want people to know that things they do for me is appreciated. I made sure my kids grew up also knowing that it is important to tell people thank you; I think they have done a good job in this category. How regular are you at changing hairstyles? There are some people, women especially, that like to have a new hairstyle each time they go to their hair dresser and some like trying different hair colors each time they make that visit. I am irregular at this; I tend to keep the same hairstyle and color for years. What else are you regular at? Visiting your doctor? Taking showers? Eating your fruits and vegetables? Changing your underwear? I hope you are regular today and tomorrow and all the next days, too.Next time? Who knows! |
