How far would you go for money?Posted Wednesday, June 29, 2011, at 12:24 PM
There sure are some crazy shows on TV these days. The reality shows have taken over and I am pretty embarrassed to say that I have sat and watched some of them a few times with my kids. (I might mention that son Jordan would not be caught dead watching any of those "stupid" shows).
We have joked that our household and family would be a great place to stage a show - we are always busy and are pretty crazy. We discovered a new competition show out that is called Silent Library that we are now hooked on. The show brings in a team of six to a library setting and through the course of the show, ridiculous activities are dished out randomly to one of the participants. Because it is in a library, the idea is to remain as quiet as possible. If the library "director" feels there was enough quiet, they are rewarded with money, if not, the activity was done for nothing. I laugh out loud watching them try to be quiet. Many times they just cannot remain quiet - could you, for example, if you had to watch your friend eat corn stuck in the toes of a complete stranger or if you had to watch your friend make a sandwich using peanut butter and jelly that is spread on the stomach and back of a large hairy man and then eat it? Each round is worth so much money and in the end, as they exit the library, the money they earned is split six ways. Yes, it is true, some people will do anything for money. I am not so sure that I would live in a house full of strangers like in a couple of those shows out there and I really don't think I could do these activities either. (I have never seen anything normal on there for activities.) If I did have a team, I would like Doris Frederick of Alta to be on my team; she loves to laugh and has such a hearty laugh, I doubt we would win any money - but we would have fun, that's for sure. (I think I would let Doris do the corn retriving!) I wonder where these creators come up with some of these shows - I am guessing it happens while they are in a bar during a lot of happy hour time! |
