My husband's sweet new gal

Posted Wednesday, March 30, 2011, at 4:45 PM

I have had an open door to my life with all readers of my column so I don't mind sharing what I am currently going through.

There is another she in my husband's life.

I should have known this would happen - she was a part of his life long before me. He told me he used to hide her from his brothers as they were growing up - he didn't want them to have any part of her.

It took a long time for him to get over her - that's very understandable. She is very sweet. I have to admit, I do like her a lot myself.

She was out of his life for awhile but is now back.

I want to see my husband happy and even pick her up and bring her to our house at his request. I have even encouraged him to engage with her on occasion.

Our kids like her a lot, too. I am a Sunday School teacher and I have even brought her with me to church on many occasions; my SS kids seem to like her a lot and when she hasn't been there for a period of time, ask me to bring her again. So I do.

I don't even know how I can compete with her - she is so very sweet but I can't help wonder how many lives she has wrecked (she has been around.)

My husband has taken her many places with him. She's gone to work with him on many occasions. The only time he has asked me to go to work with him is if he needs something cleaned or wants me to get food for him. Sometimes I will send lunch from home with him and sometimes I send her along.

He has had her in bed as well. It hurts me to see her wrappings laying there and seeing him hold her but she is in fact sweeter than me.

His doctors probably wouldn't approve of how often he has her - she isn't good for his health.

But, he really can't seem to get enough of her. I have even hidden her from him at times so he doesn't get too much of her.

I am hoping that he will grow tired of her again and leave her alone but he cares about her so much that I don't think that is going to happen.

What do you think ladies - is it worth fighting for?

I am going to reveal her name to you - it's Little Debbie - that sweet girl who offers individually-wrapped snack cakes - that my husband is so in love with!

Gotcha. April Fool's!
