What are your pet peeves?

I am tired of driving in this fog and not knowing where I am and feeling that I am driving over the edge of the Earth.

One of my biggest pet peeves is when drivers don't turn their headlights on. Hello. If you can't see two feet in front of you how do you think other drivers are going to see you. Put your lights on!

Pet peeves often involve specific behaviors they may involve disrespect, manners, personal hygiene, relationships, and family issues. The term pet peeve, I learned began being used around 1919. The term comes from the 14th-century word 'peevish,' meaning ornery or ill-tempered.

Everyone has pet peeves. While other people's actions bother us, we need to be careful in how we handle those people.

These are a few of my other pet peeves:

* not replacing the toilet paper after you use the very last sheet. My kids are notorious - even though I have lectured over and over again - about this one. And nearly as bad is when someone leaves two squares of toilet paper on the roll so that she/he can't say, "there was still toilet paper on the roll when I left the bathroom." Really. What can you do with two squares of toilet paper? Throw the roll in the garbage and get a new roll.

* seeing a driver who has not turned off the blinker after a turn. The polite manner to handle this is to blink back at them in hopes that they will get the hint. That doesn't always work, in fact nearly never. In the old cars, the sound would eventually become annoying to the driver as a way of reminding him or her that the blinker needs to be turned off but today, the blinker sound is not heard - especially if because the radio is turned up too loud to hear anything. Road rage.

* people who eavesdrop. If you were meant to be a part of the conversation we would have included you, is my thought. People like this need to tune out sounds around them. Another area that is annoying is when a conversation is going on and someone steps in, interrupts and throws an entirely different topic out there. It's time for me to walk away when that happens or I could start some road rage here, too.

* sniffing. Get a kleenex. Blow it.

* people who park crooked. Oh yes - you know who you are... So you drive up to park, it's a busy day, few free spaces, and there is this car parked almost diagonally across two spaces. My daughter is one of these people.

* making slurping noises with a straw when there is no more liquid left in the glass. Most restaurants offer free refills, if you are that thirsty and if you are at home, get up and get yourself a refill.

* tapping. Get a life or go annoy someone else with that pointless noise.

I went to the internet, I must have too much time on my hands, and there are actually several sites dedicated to pet peeves. Everyone wants to vent on what annoys them, I guess, so if you are now annoyed with me, type in pet peeves and see what you find. I'll bet you can relate to some of those same annoyances. Go ahead and vent.
