Big weekend for Iowa sports

Posted Monday, March 22, 2010, at 1:06 PM

What a weekend for Iowa sports teams! The Hawkeye wrestling team won their 23rd wrestling title, a feat that will probably not be bested.

University of Northern Iowa took down the Kansas Jayhawks (#1 Seed, #1 in the polls) to move into the Sweet 16 of the NCAA tournament.

The Iowa Hawkeye women and the Iowa State women won their first round games in the NCAA Women's tourney.

The only smudge was the UNI women's defeat in their first round game.

All in all, a pretty darn good weekend for Iowa sports

I actually watched the whole UNI-Kansas game, and was quite impressed with UNI's determination and perseverance against a very good Kansas team. Even at the end, when Kansas was putting together a wild and crazy run to get within a point, the UNI players didn't panic and pulled the game out with some great clutch plays.

I'm turning into a believer. Wouldn't want to be Michigan State on Friday.

Glad to see the sun shining a lot and the temperatures warming up. Can't wait until we have 60+ degrees everyday.

Anyway, that's it for now, 'til next time....
