It's heck getting oldPosted Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at 11:13 AM
I turn 46 in a few months, and I've noticed a few things since I've hit my mid 40s. Every year, a friend of mine invites me to her families summer volleyball/cookout party. I always have a great time. Lots of good food, good conversation and I really like to play volleyball. But I've noticed the past few years that my body hurts more and more each year. At first, I would just hurt for a day or so.... stiff back, sore legs and arms. But this past year, I actually hurt for 3 days. And not just the kind of hurt that annoys you when you move wrong, but the kind of hurt that makes you want to scream every time you move.
Which brings me to last night. My friend and I like to get together on Tuesday nights and have some dinner, watch some American Idol and catch up on the weeks activities. She bought her kids a Nintendo Wii for Christmas this year, and her oldest daughter and I have played a few games of bowling over the past few weeks. Well, last night, we 'bowled' about 7 games in a row. Let me tell you folks, aside from not having to toss around a 14 pound bowling ball, it's pretty much just like real bowling. And, Oh My God, do I hurt this morning. My arm feels like it's going to fall off. And I'm shocked at how much my legs and back are hurting. The lesson I've learned? Two things. I'm getting old, and I'm horribly out of shape. 'Til next time..... Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
